Sturmabteilungbrandt

About Us

dRAWN FROM the mUCH-FEARED 17TH DIVISION, the 9th pioniers (from schleswig-holstein) are SPECIALISTS IN EXPLOSIVES/DEMOLITION, heavy weapons, WEAPONS-HANDLING, CLOSE-COMBAT, NIGHT-FIGHTING AND ASSAULT TACTICS; especially with flamethrowers. Sturmabteilungbrandt has been detailed, by the army high command, to be a formation of specialist troops that would act, not only as an exemplary force, demonstrating ways to break the deadlock of trench-warfare, but that would widen and share its knowledge and experience throughout the German army. ALL THE MEN CHOSEn are HIGHLY-MOTIVATED, INTELLIGENT AND VERY SELF-RELIANT.
tHat IS WHY the 9th pioneers, particularly, were selected.

For special operations, stab augments its numbers only with men from other units that have sufficient ability to warrant inclusion in the exclusive ranks of stab - it remains an assault detachment of highly-motivated shock-troops.

bRITISH ASSESSMENTS OF THE 17TH DIVISION REGARDED IT AS: "A FORMIDABLE ADVERSARY. THE INTELLECTUAL LEVEL OF OFFICERS AND MEN IS APPRECIABLY HIGHER THAN THAT ORDINARILY ENCOUNTERED IN THE gERMAN ARMY".

FURTHERMORE, THE BRITISH ASSESSMENT of 17th Division CONTINUES: "THE MEN IN ITS RANKS FIGHT WELL AND DO NOT APPEAR TO OCCASION ANY WEAKNESS" - OCTOBER, 1917.

eVEN AT THE END OF OCTOBER, 1918, THE BRITISH ASSESSMENT OF THis truly OUTSTANDING GERMAN DIVISION WAS: "tHE DIVISION WAS RATED AS FIRST CLASS. IT WAS ONE OF THE BEST GERMAN DIVISIONS. ITS CONDUCT IN THE mARCH OFFENSIVE (KAISERSCHLACHT) WON THE KAISER'S PRAISE. UNTIL AUGUST, 1918, IT WAS RELATIVELY FRESH BUT, AFTER THAT, WAS ENGAGED CONSTANTLY IN EFFORTS TO CHECK THE ALLIED OFFENSIVE IN CHAMPAGNE. AT THE END THE 17TH DIVISION WAS SO REDUCED IN NUMBERS THAT IT COULD MUSTER BUT ONE OR TWO BATTALIONS (FROM THE ORIGINAL NINE !). ITS MORALE WAS EXCELLENT UNTIL LATE IN THE AUTUMN (THE WAR'S END).

stab's motto, in english, is "fear god, but fear no man".

stab are, "the kaiser's shock-troops".
